A native of Satellite Beach, Florida, flutist Elizabeth Mott began her artistic training in music and dance at a young age. Lessons in violin and voice laid the foundation for her studies as a flutist. Elizabeth graduated Stetson University in May of 2016 where she earned a Bachelor of Music with an outside field in education.
As a performer, Elizabeth studied under Dr. Tammara Phillips, professor of flute at Stetson. She has been a member of the University Symphonic Band, Flute Orchestra, Stetson Women's Chorale, and Choral Union. In addition to her performances in many large ensembles as a flutist and soprano, she has also participated in small chamber ensembles including a guitar duo and a clarinet and saxophone trio.
With a special interest in pedagogy, Elizabeth maintains her own flute and voice studio. Additionally, her passion for the entertainment industry led her to the Walt Disney Company and a professional internship in 2013. Here, Elizabeth spent seven months working full-time on Disney property, learning much about hospitality, business and the professional life of a performer.
In August 2017, Elizabeth was met with a challenging opportunity: establishing a choir program for the middle school population of a disadvantaged community. This was a chance to build a choir program from the ground up. This school’s choir program had not existed in almost ten years, due in part to a lack of funding and disinterest from the students. In just two years Elizabeth was able to build a flourishing choir program that serves as an outlet for youth expression and empowerment. The choir program is now represented by 215 students who participate in various ensembles such as general choir, show choir, and musical theater study. These proud young vocalists have performed for the Volusia County Administrative Institute, Title-1 School Fairs, various volunteer performances, and concerts for their family and friends.
Professionally, Elizabeth is a member of National Association for Music Education (NAfME), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Florida Vocal Association (FVA), and Sigma Alpha Iota, Eta Pi chapter alumnae.
Elizabeth is currently teaching flute and voice lessons as well as working as a technician for marching band and general sectionals in various schools around Brevard and Volusia.
Additionally, Elizabeth is pursuing her Masters in Music Education though the University of Florida (2021).
